I'm 57 years old, I live in Scotland. Heard devo when I was 14 years old...hooked from then. Saw them live in Glasgow 2007, then again Edinburgh 2023 and London 2023. They are the art project that has been with me...most of my life. Are We Not Men? I Am DEVO 🤣
For us in Europe, “Whip It” was one of the first times we really connected with Devo, and it’s still one of my favorite tracks from the early ’80s. Great write-up, Nate!
They sort of changed a bit with this album as opposed to the previous two from the 70s. Certainly helped usher in "New Wave" to the culture in the States with "Whip It."
Great piece, Nate! Maybe I'm pedestrian, but I only like their most accessible songs. The "Whip It" video is a true classic! (When I was a kid, I thought they were wearing flower pots on their heads ;))
WOO I have a DEVO story coming soon!!!!!!!!
Excellent! I look forward to checking it out.
This realllllly takes me back to childhood. I am seeing Mark Mothersbaugh perform his scores in November!
That should be great!

That's awesome!
I suppose they'll never actually finish their "farewell" tour 😁🤘
They ushered in the wacky 80s. Love "Whip It" and their style.
Absolutely!
Been listening through this album for a couple of days now and loving it.

Thanks very much!
Some of the members even say they look as if they're wearing Legos.
